Our Mission

For 85 years, as a laboratory and demonstration school of New Jersey City University, the A. Harry Moore School has a dual mission of, first, providing a comprehensive educational and therapeutic program for students with multiple disabilities, empowering them to reach their full potential by becoming contributing and productive members of society. The scope and sequence of the programs continuously evolve and are adapted to meet the ever-changing and diverse needs of our student population.

Secondly, as a demonstration school we are committed to providing educational, observational, and research opportunities to professionals in the fields of special education, early childhood education, educational technology, as well as other disciplines, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and social work, among others.

By providing both a model program for our students and future practitioners, it is our goal that the programs at A. Harry Moore set the standards for educating students with multiple disabilities and those who work with them.
