Music Therapy

Music therapy uses music to address the physical, emotional, cognitive, sensory, communication, and social needs of our students.  Music therapy interventions can be designed to address IEP goals from many areas, and can also promote wellness, manage stress, alleviate pain, express emotions, and enhance memory.  Students are assessed and potentially placed into groups or individual sessions, depending on the needs of the student.  Interventions can include anything from instrumental lessons, notation reading and songwriting, to group drumming, singing, exploring percussion/melodic instruments, and live music listening and vibration as a sensory experience.  Music therapists are board certified by the national Certification Board for Music Therapists.
