Physical Therapy

Physical therapists at A. Harry Moore School work with children with various diagnoses and functional levels.

We work to help the children improve their gross motor skills, balance and coordination, safety, vestibular and proprioception function, motor planning abilities, range of motion, strength and endurance, body mechanics and ergonomics.

We help manage their equipment needs including; orthotics, compression and weighted garments, helmets, wheelchairs, strollers, walkers, crutches, positioning equipment, standers, specialized seating systems for the classroom and even bath chairs and equipment for the home.

We help schedule and run clinics at school to help manage the orthopedic needs of the children by having an Orthopedic Doctor evaluate and assess children monthly. An Orthotist comes to school bimonthly to make orthotics and make adjustments as needed.

Equipment vendors come to school trimonthly to manage various wheelchair and other equipment needs.

As therapists, we evaluate and treat each child according to their needs and specific goals. Therapy does not end when the treatment session ends. Therapists speak with parents, teachers and other therapists frequently, to incorporate the child’s functional goals into his/her daily schedule. Therapists constantly reassess each child’s progress and specific needs and make adjustments to the treatment plan as needed. We work to ensure that each child reach his/her highest functional potential.
